Though the official unemployment rate is holding steady at 4.2%, many workers feel it's just a matter of time before there's a major shake-up. At least one in three US employees says they're experiencing layoff anxiety.

Last week, the number of people filing for jobless benefits rose to the highest level in months. The Trump administration's cuts across federal agencies, health organizations and nonprofits have led to some 300,000 layoffs . As employers reduce personnel and freeze plans to hire new workers, there have been mass cuts across the tech industry , entertainment and education .
