NEW YORK —

On Tuesday, an odd-looking aircraft became the first all-electric plane to carry passengers to a commercial airport.

The plane from Beta Technologies flew 45 minutes from East Hampton to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

Kyle Clark, who founded the company, flew the plane himself.

He said it only took about $8 worth of electricity to make the journey.
