Las Vegas (KSNV) — Clark County has announced a new initiative to provide microchipping services for pets for $5, aiming to keep animals out of shelters and with their families.
This program is in partnership with three local animal welfare organizations and precedes the county's mandatory pet microchipping requirement, which will take effect on Monday, August 4.
County officials say they have allocated $150,000 to enhance efforts in reuniting pets with their owners.
To initiate the program, Clark County has acquired 10,000 microchips and teamed up with Hearts Alive Village, Heaven Can Wait Animal Society, and Nevada SPCA to offer microchipping implantation services.
