CALERA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Calera Police say a 49-year-old teacher is accused of inappropriate conduct involving teenagers.

Heather Ozment is on administrative leave. Police say the alleged conduct happened after school hours and did not happen at a school facility.

She is listed on the Calera Elementary School website as a kindergarten teacher. The school’s social media pages identified her as Calera Elementary’s 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year.

A Shelby County Grand Jury indicted her on first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree sexual abuse and enticing a child to enter vehicle, house, etc, for immoral purposes.
