YPSILANTI, MI — A 1990s bus terminal in downtown Ypsilanti is reaching the end of its useful life. The Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority, also known as TheRide, is preparing to more than triple the size of the Ypsilanti Transit Center .
Transportation authority representatives recently shared an update with city officials on their progress toward reconstructing the transit center at an estimated cost of about $23 million. The latest designs, subject to change, show a more modern terminal building north of Pearl Street, between N. Adams and N. Washington streets.
They have been “fine tuning” designs after collecting feedback from residents and city officials, Gretchen Johnson, a senior project leader for TheRide, said at a May 3 city council meeting.
