Body found in creek; KSP investigating

PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) – The Kentucky State Police are investigating after a body was found in a creek in the Elkhorn City community of Pike County.

The discovery was made on Wednesday, June 4, according to the Elkhorn City Police Department.

KSP troopers and investigators responded to the scene along Big Branch Road.

The body of Adam Stanley, 48, of Haysi, Virginia, was found in the water, troopers say.

Stanley had previously been reported missing to law enforcement in Virginia.

Stanley was pronounced dead by the Pike County Coroner’s Office.

His body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

A cause of death has not yet been determined, officials say.
