The Trojans battled back late, but an early hole to the WPIAL champs was too much to overcome in Windber on Thursday.

Chambersburg, the District 3 runner ups, fell to Hempfield Area 4-3 in the PIAA 6A quarterfinals, ending another strong season for the Trojans.

Hempfield jumped out to an early lead in the first as Allie Cervola singled in a run to score Claire Mitchell.

Then, via a two-out rally in the bottom of the third, the Spartans would take a 3-0 lead with another RBI by Cervola and an RBI single by pitcher Riley Miller. Miller would then extend the lead to 4-0 in the fifth with another run-scoring knock.
