CHESAPEAKE, Va. — The U.S. Navy is inviting residents to an upcoming open house to discuss private drinking water well sampling for PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, near Naval Auxiliary Landing Field Fentress in Chesapeake.

The event will take place on Tuesday, June 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hickory Ruritan Club, located at 2752 South Battlefield Boulevard.

Residents will be able to find out whether their property is located within a designated sampling area and, if eligible, schedule an appointment for well testing.

The open house also offers a chance for residents to speak one-on-one with representatives from the U.S. Navy, the Virginia Department of Health, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, and the City of Chesapeake.
