HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -- In a calendar invite seen by abc27 news, Central Dauphin School District asked staff to report to a room Thursday morning to meet with human resources.

In that room, according to people familiar with the situation, 30 paraprofessionals were told their positions are being eliminated.

Paraprofessionals provide learning support for children with various needs. Many of them have worked with the district for decades.

The cuts seem to affect the district's six middle and high school buildings, not elementary schools. People affected say a smaller number of paraprofessionals will remain in those middle and high schools.
