There's a new republican challenger for the US Senate seat currently held by Joni Ernst.

Former Iowa State Senator Jim Carlin officially launched his campaign Thursday night.

He's from Sergeant Bluff and served in the Iowa house for a few months before moving to the Senate following a special election.
