As “Hershey” continues to film around Western Pennsylvania, the movie’s prop crew has recruited a West View chocolate maker to hit its candy quotas.
The production asked Betsy Ann Chocolates to help make the old school candy that will be featured in the biopic, which follows the life of chocolatier Milton S. Hershey and his wife, Catherine “Kitty” Hershey.
The “Hershey” prop master provided molds and asked Betsy Ann to fashion chocolates like those made by Hershey throughout the 20th century, the timeframe in which the movie takes place.
The store was chosen due to its almost century-long experience in candy making to “help make some of the most important props in the film,” Anna Lingeris, head of U.S. communications and brand PR at The Hershey Company, said in an emailed statement.
