SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A Bay Area tech CEO spoke out about the growing return-to-office push in a recent interview, comparing it to forcing people back into shopping malls and movie theaters. Speaking to Fortune's "Leadership Next" podcast, Dropbox CEO Drew Houston argued against the notion that people should be forced to return to the office.

"You know, forcing people back to the office is probably gonna be like trying to force people back into malls and movie theaters," Houston told the podcast's hosts. "Nothing wrong with the movie theater, but it's just a different world now."

Defending the merits of remote work, Houston added, "It is unproductive if you just try to photocopy what you're doing in the office onto Zoom."
