SPRINGFIELD, Vt. (WCAX) - Tech-ed students in Springfield are gearing up to put their skills to the test at a national competition.

The start of summer means high school seniors are getting ready to graduate. But after they walk across the stage, a group of students at the River Valley Technical Center isn’t done quite yet.

A team of three manufacturing and engineering students is taking their talents to the Skills USA Championships in Atlanta later this month for the largest gathering of future skilled workers in the country.

Their challenge will be to design and manufacture a part for machinery. “We know what the finished part is supposed to look like and what the dimensions are supposed to be. That’s all we’re given,” said RVTC student Nick Wiese.
