HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi plans to sign off on a bill to help more businesses that will be impacted by rail construction in Kalihi.
Bill 31 will provide $10,000 yearly grants to businesses that generate an annual revenue of $1 million or less, an increase on the previous annual revenue cap of $750,000.
The legislation also removes a 15-employee limit, but does however require that the businesses must have operated at least 12 months prior to the start of any rail construction within the construction zone.
The bill was passed by the city council and is awaiting Blangiardi’s sign off.
