THUNDERBOLT, Ga. (WTOC) - The Thunderbolt Care Center, Thunderbolt’s only nursing home, is set to close, according to Representative Jesse Petrea.
In a post on Thursday, Petrea posted a message he says he received from the Georgia Department of Community Health, informing him in his official capacity that the “facility is no longer in compliance with federal requirement to participate as a skilled nursing facility in the Medicare and Medicaid programs.”
The message goes on to say the closure of the nursing home comes after six months of issues, including deaths, failure to report physical abuse, and unsanitary conditions in the facility. It also says there are 115 residents in the facility, and they will all be relocated to other facilities by July 12.
