Maumee and Lucas County have settled a yearslong disagreement over unpaid sewer outflow charges at the county-owned recreation center in the city.
The agreement will place a new flow monitor at an area that aims to isolate the outflow from the Lucas County Recreation Center, and the county will pay half the amount of future bills until readings from the monitor can determine the accuracy of unpaid bills, which amount to nearly $2 million.
Readings from the monitor will be collected for about a year and compared to the readings from the city’s monitor. At that point, the back payments from the county will be calculated based on the readings. Lucas County will pay half its current bill, amounting to $100,000, Commissioner Pete Gerken said.
