They went low on Thursday to open the 2025 RBC Canadian Open. There were were two 61s, a 62 and a 63 posted on the leaderboard north of the border after the first 18 holes. Nearly 100 golfers were under par late in the day Thursday.

The North Course at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in Ontario is hosting the Canadian Open for the first time and the PGA Tour pros seem to be taking a liking to the scoring opportunities being presented. To keep tabs on the leaderboard, click here.

Notables who missed the cut at 2025 RBC Canadian Open

Cameron Champ went out early Friday and took care of business, posting a bogey-free 66 and getting it to 12 under. He led by as many as three shots before settling in with a two-shot lead over Andrew Putnam after 36 holes at TPC Toronto.

The 36-hole cut shifted to 3 under Friday afternoon and then left many notable names on the outside looking in.

Rory McIlroy misses the cut... by a lot

McIlroy, who won the 2019 and 2022 RBC Canadian Opens, did not have it this week. After opening with a 71, he shot 78 on Friday, his card showing a quad 8 on the par-4 fifth hole. He managed to only beat four guys this week after finishing at 9 over.

McIlroy, the 2025 Masters Champion, will now turn his attention to Oakmont, where next week he'll be seeking his second U.S. Open championship and his sixth major overall.

Projected cut sitting at 2 under at RBC Canadian Open

As the golfers in the afternoon wave approach the midway point of their rounds, the cut is hovering on that 2 under score. As of 3:45 p.m. ET, those 1 under or worse include: Tom Kim, Justin Rose, Haskins Award winner David Ford, Max Homa, Gary Woodland, Luke Clanton, Kurt Kitayama, Sungjae Im.

Rory McIlroy takes an 8 on No. 5 at RBC Canadian Open

McIlroy was 1 over through 18 holes and two shots off the projected cutline. On Friday, he didn't help himself. After opening with four straight pars, McIlroy had a disastrous fifth hole, a 447-yard par 4. His second shot went OB deep and from there he need three more shots to find the putting surface. His quad 8 dropped him to 5 over, where he's fallen into a tie for 147th.

What is the cut at the RBC Canadian Open?

The cut in Canada is the top 65 and ties plus anyone within 10 shots of the lead. The field is 156 but there have 11 withdrawals since last Friday. Late in the day Thursday, there were nearly 100 golfers below par on the TPC Toronto golf course.

Who's in danger of missing the cut at the RBC Canadian Open?

As of 1 p.m. during Friday's second-round action, the projected cutline is 2 under.

Tom Kim, Justin Rose, Nicolai Hojgaard, Max Homa, Emiliano Grillo, Gary Woodland, Ben An, Luke Clanton were all on the wrong side of the line around midday. Rory McIlroy was 1 over after 18 holes and also has work to do but he's just starting his second round so the 2019 and 2022 Canadian Open champ has plenty of time to right the ship.
