EVANSVILLE — Chaser’s Bar & Grill announced a change in ownership Thursday, a move that comes months after the establishment came under fire when two bouncers allegedly assaulted a customer, prompting a lawsuit.

The bar, located at 2131 W. Franklin St., made the announcement in a Facebook post, proclaiming: “New owner. New name. New vibe.”

The post doesn’t state who bought the bar or what the name will change to. Vanderburgh County Assessor records don’t yet list any sale of the Chaser’s Bar & Grill building or property.

The announcement caught Neil Chapman by surprise. The attorney has since April led a lawsuit against Franklin St. Operating LLC, which owned Chaser’s Bar & Grill, on behalf of Shane Hendrix, a customer who was allegedly assaulted by two bouncers following an argument
