MUNCIE, Ind. — The City of Muncie has fired its Chief of Emergency Medical Services amid a criminal investigation .

Wesley Miller was placed on administrative leave last week after being charged with domestic battery in Jay County.

Miller is charged with residential entry and domestic battery in front of a child less than 16 years old.

On May 27, those charges were filed, and a warrant was issued out of Jay County for Miller's arrest.

Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour said the decision was not made lightly.

A statement from the mayor says, in part, "We recognize the importance of maintaining the highest standards of leadership and accountability within our public safety departments."
