FRANKFORT, MI – Police are investigating after a historic lighthouse was found with bullet holes.
UpNorthLive reported this week that the North Breakwater lighthouse in Frankfort has multiple bullet holes in the glass at top lamp room level surrounding its lens.
The light on Lake Michigan was built in 1912 and is considered a local landmark and point of pride for the community.
Volunteers with the Frankfort Lighthouse Restoration Project have been working on restoring the lighthouse for more than a year, investing $1.1 million into the structure that was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
