A Jacksonville councilman has continued to request safety improvements be made for Baymeadows Road following a crash that killed a father and his 1-year-old son last month.
The father, Mitchell Patch, was a math teacher at Bayview Elementary.
Councilman Joe Carlucci has given an update to News4JAX regarding the plan with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
“FDOT is doing their evaluation currently. So their commitment is being delivered. I have been advocating hard for this, but FDOT has their own set of rules,” Carlucci explained.
Carlucci previously said that he thinks the road needs a traffic signal, additional lighting, striping and signage to improve safety in the area.
FDOT provided a statement on June 4 stating:
″FDOT cannot speak on behalf of Councilman Carlucci.
