The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office found a man sleeping in his car on the side of the road, which led to the search and seizure of over 45 pounds of marijuana and his arrest.
Police said at 8:14 a.m. on Friday, a concerned citizen reported a driver stopped on the side of US-441 near Southeast Happy Valley Glen, who was very close to the travel lane.
Deputies walked up to the car and smelled a strong smell of alcohol and saw vomit on the door and the driver. The driver was identified as a man from California.
He verbally consented to a vehicle search, where police found two suitcases with over 45 pounds of vacuum-packed marijuana.
He was booked into the Columbia County Jail for drug trafficking.
