LERONA, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Florida man is facing multiple charges after allegedly crashing his truck into a fence and passing out intoxicated behind the wheel late Saturday night in Mercer County.

On May 31, 2025, at approximately 10:45 p.m., a state trooper responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident on Pine Grove Road in Lerona. Witnesses told dispatchers the driver had struck a fence on private property three separate timesbefore losing consciousness in the vehicle.

Upon arrival, the trooper found Austin Mahar, who identified himself with a Florida driver’s license, passed out in the driver’s seat. When asked to exit the truck, Mahar was unsteady on his feet and reeked of alcohol. He admitted to drinking earlier that evening.
