PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It wasn’t just the rain that was unusual to start the month of June, it was also the unusually cool temperatures.

In fact, the first five days of June had one day in the 80s, three days in the 90s and only one day in the triple digits! The overnight lows ranged from the upper 60s to low 70s. That makes for an average of 84 degrees, which is the coolest start to June in Phoenix since 1999.

In 1999, the average temperature from June 1 to June 5 was an amazingly low 75.2 degrees! That is almost 9 degrees cooler than the average temperature this year.

With a hot stretch approaching this weekend and early next week, don’t expect to stay on top of the cool June rankings, although the cool start will probably be enough to prevent us from ending up on top of the hot list l
