ST. PAUL, Minn. (Northern News Now) - After reaching a budget agreement, Governor Tim Walz has called for a special session of the Minnesota legislature on Monday, June 9.

According to a news release sent from Walz’s office Friday, the session will start at 10 a.m.

Minnesota’s regular legislative session ended roughly three weeks ago without an agreement reached on a budget.

Lawmakers have spent the time since negotiating roughly a dozen budget bills, including: education, health, transportation, taxes and others.

Notably, the agreement is signed by all four legislative caucus leaders, including Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson (R - East Grand Forks), whose name was not on the original budget compromise that was announced just before the end of the regular session.
