In Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan Bates’ commentary of June 3, 2025, “ We need solutions to our juvenile justice crisis ,” there is one glaring omission of a demographic that’s particularly vulnerable to the crime that he writes about. And this demographic is being continually overlooked and swept under the rug by the leaders we voted for: Ivan Bates, Brandon Scott, Zeke Cohen, et al. Can you guess who I’m talking about?
Bates is pained to see teenagers (representing 12% of the city population), brazenly and without recompense, running around, destroying the lives of others, and also for those whose lives were cut short in middle age by said juveniles.
But he doesn’t bother to mention the group most impacted by this juvenile crime, the people 60 years and older, quietly comprisin
