DULUTH, Minn. & ELY, Minn. – The National Incident Management Organization (NIMO) teams will start to dismantle a remote work site area and remove non-essential firefighting equipment from the House River Fire area.
The fire is burning in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
It has taken 13 acres and is now 53% contained.
Twenty-Six people are fighting the blaze.
NIMO reports, “weather and continued effort to identify and suppress sources of heat, has resulted in gains in containment on the Horse River Fire”.
Crews were unable to locate any active heat within the perimeter of the Horse River Fire for three consecutive days.
