(FOX40.COM) — Blue Diamond Growers will scale down operations and close its Sacramento plant over the next two years.

The company said around 600 employees will be laid off, starting with approximately 10% later this year.

Last year, the company, whose primary product is almonds, announced layoffs for 38 corporate positions.

FOX40 received multiple tips indicating that employees were sent home from the plant earlier this week and told to return Friday morning.
