Police are investigating a homicide after an altercation inside a home near the University of Tulsa campus erupted into gunfire early Friday.

Officers responded around 11:30 a.m. to the house in a "generally quiet neighborhood" about two or three blocks west of TU, Tulsa Police Capt. Richard Meulenberg said at the scene.

They found the alleged shooter in the area and took the individual into custody, along with a female who police said was with him in the 800 block of South Atlanta Avenue.

The preliminary investigation indicates the individual killed in the shooting, a man in his 40s, was the occupant of the home. Police said another male individual came to the residence and ended up in an alterca
