JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A multi-vehicle crash in Jefferson County forced the closure of a major interstate Friday morning.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, two commercial vehicles crashed on Interstate 22 East at around 1:47 a.m. near mile marker 82.
Crews have been diverting traffic off the interstate at Exit 81 to Snowville Brent Road near West Jefferson.
To detour around the closure, drivers can take Flat Top Road back to Graysville and get back onto I-22 toward Birmingham.
Around noon Friday, ALEA said the right lane on I-22 is now open.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information comes available.
