FENNVILLE, MI –– There were periods of contemplation and unsettlement, but after reviewing the state of Allegan’s girls soccer program, Paul Legge knew that one final season coaching soccer had the makings of something perhaps extraordinary.
Something the Tigers had never seen before.
That vision came to reality for Legge and Allegan on Thursday, as the Tigers used a pair of second half goals to deliver an unforgettable moment –– hoisting the program’s first-ever regional championship in a 2-0 victory over Grand Rapids Covenant Christian.
The Tigers (16-5-0) advance to a Division 3 state semifinal on Tuesday from Grand Rapids Catholic Central, where they’ll take on the winner of Grand Rapids Catholic Central/Traverse City St. Francis.
