Burlington Church Deacon Had Sex With Child: Prosecutor

A 44-year-old Mount Holly man was arrested and charged this week with having sex with a girl under the age of 13, authorities said.

Shawn Tracey, a deacon at Burlington Seventh-day Adventist Church in Burlington City, sexually abused the victim over a two-year period at multiple locations in Burlington County, Prosecutor LaChia Bradshaw and Mount Holly Township Police Department Acting Chief Clifford Spencer said.

Tracey is charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual assault, 13 counts of debauching the morals of a child, two counts of sexual assault and one count of showing obscene to a minor, authorities said.

He is lodged in the Burlington County Jail pending a detention hearing, authorities said.
