One of two men arrested last weekend in knife-related incidents in Sarnia has been convicted three times since 2020 for assaulting officers.

A man “was acting erratically, brandishing a knife, and making stabbing motions in the air” in the area of Christina Street North and London Road around 5 p.m. on May 31, police said.

The man, who was under probation orders, was arrested and police found a knife hidden in his shoe.

Dillon Heywood, 31, is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and five counts of breaking probation.

Heywood was in custody as of Friday and due to appear in Sarnia court by video Tuesday for an update on the case.
