An LGBTQ historical site on Staten Island is celebrating more than pride this month.

The Alice Austen House is being gifted a valuable collection of thousands of photographs — taken by Austen in the 1800s.

Her work captured some of the earliest snapshots of women embracing and dressed in drag.

She was in a committed relationship with partner Gertrude Tate for more than 50 years.

Up until now, this collection of photographs has been under the watchful eye of Historic Richmond Town.

“When Alice was evicted from this home in 1945, she wonderfully contacted the historical society and gave them her glass plate negatives and printed photographs and they have been kept incredibly safe there in their archives.” Victoria Munro, executive director of Alice Austin House, said.
