RUSTBURG, Va. (WSET) — The Campbell County Sheriff's Office said that 5-year-old Peyton Marie Knight, who was previously the subject of a public alert, has been located and is safe.

Deputies said law enforcement officials successfully recovered the child after an extensive search and thanked the community for their vigilance and support.

Deputies said, however, the search remains active and ongoing for her father, Cal Lee Davis, Jr., who is currently wanted on charges of abduction and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
