COCHISE COUNTY, Ariz. — News 4 Tucson has a major update on a troubling investigation involving a truck driver assault near San Simon. Detectives from the Cochise County Sheriff's Office have identified a suspect in the February attack, but he has reportedly fled the country.

The investigation, led by Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels, has now become international. Detectives found evidence linking the suspect to the attack. The victim remains in a coma, fighting for his life.

The victim, named Jack, suffered serious brain damage and had all his teeth bashed out. Surgeons that helped save his life told News 4 Tucson's Chief Investigative Reporter Chorus Nylander he suffered about the worst head injury a person could have.
