LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Not all gold stars are created equal, at least according to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

"We love hotdogs & rotisserie chickens as much as the next person but please stop telling people their Costco card counts as a REAL ID because it absolutely does not," TSA wrote in a post to Facebook on Wednesday .

The REAL ID rule went into effect last month , meaning people must have a state ID card that complies with federal rules in order to fly or enter certain U.S. government buildings.

Most REAL ID-compliant cards have a gold star on them, while some Costco membership cards are labeled as "gold star."
