TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — Tempe’s photo-enforcement program officially entered its next phase Friday. Drivers will now face fines for speeding or running red lights at 14 intersections across the city .

Any driver caught speeding or running a red light will receive a ticket with a $250 fine. Criminal charges could also apply for excessive speeds as applicable under state law.

The city’s crackdown on red-light runners and speeders entered its first phase on May 7 with a 30-day warning period.

Tempe says it chose the intersections based on three main factors: where drivers were going much faster than the posted speed limit, where crashes happened most often, and where there were at least three serious or deadly crashes between 2018 and 2022.
