BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine — The Maine State Aquarium in West Boothbay Harbor is opening for the season on June 11, unveiling new exhibits and an interactive learning lab.

Operated by the Department of Marine Resources (DMR) , the aquarium reopened last year following major interior renovations and drew more than 26,000 visitors, according to a news release from the DMR.

Returning favorites are two custom-built 1,400-gallon tanks modeled after Maine’s rocky shoreline. These tanks showcase a variety of sea life native to the Gulf of Maine, with close-up views of the region’s marine ecosystem.

Aquarium educators will once again be on hand at the touch tanks to guide safe interactions and answer questions, according to the release.
