FLORIDA, USA — The guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG 64) returned home to Naval Station Norfolk on Friday.
Sailors aboard the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser supported U.S. maritime operations during an extended deployment to the Middle East.
The Gettysburg's return marks the end of its latest operational deployment. As part of the U.S. Navy’s surface fleet, the ship plays a key role in maintaining security and readiness across global waters.
The crew of the Gettysburg left Norfolk last September as part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group.
Navy officials said that while sailing across Europe and the Middle East, the Gettysburg and the strike group conducted a wide range of missions, including exercises with NATO Allies and combat operations in the Red Sea.
