HAYS COUNTY, Texas — An all-clear has been given after the Hays County Public Safety Building was evacuated Friday afternoon due to a suspicious package.

Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra said just before 1 p.m. that the building on Stagecoach Road in San Marcos had been evacuated. Roughly 20 minutes later, the county shared that jurors who were in the building were not yet released from jury duty and would be receiving communications from their bailiff.

The Hays County Sheriff's Office responded. Residents were asked to stay away from the Government Center, and the intersections of Wonder World and Stagecoach Trail and Dutton Drive and Corporate Drive were closed for the public's safety.
