A once popular restaurant and bar in St. Jacobs is up for sale after the owner was evicted over a rent dispute.

In a notice posted at the The Village Biergarten and shared on social media, the landlord claims the restaurant’s owner, Denis Fontana, had breached the lease contract. As a result, the right to occupy the premises at 1381 King St., St. Jacobs, “has been terminated effective immediately.”

“Despite our previous efforts in offering payment terms and working together to find a resolution to your ongoing payment issues, you have continued to miss scheduled payments,” read the notice. “Nonpayment of rent and failure to remedy this default after notice has entitled the Landlord to take possession of the premises.”
