The death of 28-year-old Fairhaven resident Mason Evich in a head-on crash on the New Bedford-Fairhaven Bridge was allegedly caused by a drunk driver who was drinking at a local bar.
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III has announced that the defendant, 62-year-old Robert Campbell, has been arraigned in Bristol County Superior Court in Fall River on charges of operating under the influence manslaughter and operating under the influence second offense for the fatal motor collision on Feb. 20.
It is alleged that Campbell had been drinking at the Bitter End Lounge in Fairhaven before leaving the bar.
While on the bridge, he crossed over the center double yellow line, crossing into the victim’s lane and striking his vehicle head on.
