LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - The Alabama Department of Corrections said an inmate died on Friday following an assault at Limestone Correctional Facility.

ADOC said that staff reported an inmate-on-inmate assault with a weapon between two inmates, 31-year-old Montavius Banks and 36-year-old Justin Orlando Lewis.

Banks was severely injured and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

The Law Enforcement Services Division is investigating the incident. Lewis is facing new charges.
