Billy Joel is getting candid about his life in his upcoming documentary.

The first look at “Billy Joel: And So It Goes” premiered Wednesday at the Tribecca Film Festival in New York City, where audiences learned some surprising details of his early life.

During the documentary, premiering on HBO in July, Joel shared that following his affair with a bandmate’s wife, he attempted suicide twice and fell into a coma at one point, according to People Magazine .

Joel was in a band called Attila with his friend Jon Small in his early 20s and moved in with Small and Small’s wife at the time, Elizabeth Weber, and the couple’s son.

He developed feelings for Weber and when Small began to suspect something was going on, Joel confessed.
