Suspicious package prompts evacuation of Hays County Public Safety Building

The Hays County Public Safety Building was evacuated Friday as authorities investigate a suspicious package, officials said.

County Judge Ruben Becerra announced the evacuation in a brief notice, stating the building on Stagecoach Road had been cleared "due to a suspicious package."

"We will update you as things unfold," Becerra said in the notice.

In the Facebook post, Becerra said the evacuation was conducted "out of an abundance of caution."
