Ayanna Willock is taking charge.
The Robert F. Kennedy Community High School senior is captain of the girls’ varsity basketball team.
“All the teammates, you know, you know, look up to you,” Willock said. “And it’s just like, it’s just like just this sense of, you know, just a rush.”
When she took on leadership of the team her sophomore year, they had only one win under their belt that season. This year, the Flushing center led the team to the playoffs while averaging 23 points per game.
“Going from a one and 11 team to like, ten and three team was just like an amazing feeling,” she said.
