PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The next time Hunter Haake steps onto the ice, he’ll be sporting new hockey gear. The 12-year-old’s gear was damaged during a recent flight home from a tournament.
“This was really bad,” Haake said as he pointed to a bag full of shredded equipment.
Hunter was traveling with his grandpa, Jack Campbell, who immediately reported the damage to American Airlines. “I was in shock at first because I’ve never seen anything like that, and then there was a little bit of panic because it smelled like smoke,” he said. “It probably was either caught on a conveyer belt in Chicago or was drug behind the baggage claim vehicle.”
Campbell turned in receipts for replacement gear to the airline.
