Jasmine Shackleford joins the Dispatch as summer reporting intern

BRAINERD — A new summer reporting intern from the University of Minnesota joined the Brainerd Dispatch.

Jasmine Shackleford began Monday, June 2, and will be with the Dispatch until Aug. 8. She is studying journalism at the university in the Twin Cities and will be entering her junior year in the fall. She also has a second major in urban studies and minors in sustainability studies and creative writing.

Shackleford was born in upper Michigan and lived in several towns across northern Wisconsin, Michigan and California before moving to Minneapolis for college in 2023. She has previously worked at the Minnesota Daily, the University of Minnesota’s student newspaper, as a columnist. She has also worked as an editorial intern for Iron Diamond Media.
