Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson says a project years in the making will soon be underway.

The transformation of 17 blocks of St. Louis Street, in downtown Mobile, will make the roadways safer and more accessible for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers, Stimpson said.

“This exciting effort builds on the momentum created by the ongoing private investment along St. Louis Street, which now features grocery stores, breweries, offices, restaurants, residential housing and more,” Stimpson said. “This is the city’s investment in a growing piece of downtown that will support economic development and improve quality of life for the many Mobilians who live, work and play in this area every day.”
